Charles Driscoll, Jr.

Charles E. Driscoll, Jr., 95, of Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, November 27, 2016, in Villa Maria, Fargo, ND.

Charles Edward Driscoll Jr. was born Feb 21, 1921, to Charles Edward and Barbara (Malone) Driscoll. He graduated from Glyndon (MN) High School and attended Business College in Fargo. He was a World War II veteran, enlisting in the United States Marines in 1942. He was a Master Technical Sergeant serving in the Pacific areas, Philippines and Solomon Islands, until 1945. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal in December 1945.

Charles married Florine Athmann on June 8, 1948. They farmed near Glyndon, and raised six children. Florine died in April, 2003. They were lifelong members of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moorhead. Charles was a member of the School Board and Parish Council.
Charles served on the Glyndon Elevator Board. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He was instrumental in the induction of the Knights of Columbus Columbia Club in Moorhead and served as the 4th Grand Knight.

Charles had a great love for the land and enjoyed farming until he was in his 90s. His favorite past time was watching his children and grandchildren play basketball, attending thousands of games over the last 60 years.

He is survived by his children, Patrick, Thomas (Janis), Kathleen Abraham (Robin), Michael (Tari), James (Connie), Sara Sanders (Roland); grandchildren, Natalie Gemar (Dave), Charlie Driscoll (Erin), Jethe Abraham (Matthew Swanson), Amber Abraham (Josh Blomberg), Luke Driscoll (Angela), Jacob Driscoll (Krista), Sarah Bagley (Matt), Elizabeth Driscoll, Jordan Driscoll, Jenna Driscoll, Gage Sanders, and Kobe Sanders; great-grandchildren, Tommy Driscoll, Jaxson Driscoll, Bo Swanson, Bria Bagley; sister-in-law, Dode Athmann; brother-in-law, Delore Athmann; cousin, Doris Athmann; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edward and Barbara Driscoll; a brother, Cornelieus Driscoll (Glenice); sisters, Mary Solberg (Mel), Helen Anschutz (Ralph), Barbara Dokken (Robert) and Darlene Ness (Milton); sister-in-law, Bette Daggett; and brother-in-law, Marvin Daggett.

The family would like to thank the staff at Villa Maria and Hospice of Red River Valley for their wonderful care.

A visitation for Charles will be Friday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with a prayer service at 6:00 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, December 10, 2016, at 11 AM, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.

Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
