A. Christine Fletcher, age 68, of Fargo, ND, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2016, at Essentia Health, Fargo, after a courageous, 18-year battle with cancer.
Christine was born in Osnabrock, ND, on Nov. 10, 1948. She grew up in Fargo, and graduated from Fargo Central High School. She then attended Memphis State University (TN).
Christine spent most of her life in the Pacific Northwest. She worked in real estate, but chose to be a homemaker when her daughter was born. In 2007, she moved to Fergus Falls, MN, and in 2012, she returned to Fargo.
Christine was a loving grandmother, mother, and daughter. Time spent with her two adorable granddaughters was precious to her. She loved to read, play the piano, garden, travel, and volunteered for many organizations throughout her life. At the time of her death, she was an active member of First Lutheran Church and The Fine Arts Club, Fargo.
Christine is survived by her daughter, Christina (Jeffrey) Athy, Fargo; her granddaughters, Katherine and Eleanor Athy; mother, Alice Johnson, Moorhead, MN; father, Wendell (Janet) Johnson, Fargo; a brother, Steven (Linda) Johnson, Sedona, AZ; and a sister, Kathryn (William) Watson, Oak Ridge, TN. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Nicholas; and her sister, Karen Powers.
Visitation will be from 10 AM - 11 AM, followed by a memorial service for Christine, Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, at 11 AM, at First Lutheran Church, Fargo.
Memorials preferred to either First Lutheran Church, or to WE CAN, a global outreach effort founded by her oncologist, Dr. Julie Gralow, educating and promoting awareness, care and treatment of breast cancer through UW Medicine's Division of Medical Oncology/ Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.
