Adeline Erickson, 92, of Burnsville, MN, formerly of Moorhead, MN, died Friday, January 11, 2013, at Ebenezer Ridges Geriatric Care Center in Burnsville.
Adeline Karlstad was born April 12, 1920, at Hatton, ND, the daughter of Lars and Clara Karlstad. She was raised on a farm near Hatton, graduating from Hatton High School. She then attended Mayville State College in Mayville, ND, where she received her teaching degree.
On October 31, 1944, she was united in marriage to August Neyssen in California. They lived in California where they worked in the shipyards during World War II and after the war moved to Bloomington, MN. They then moved to Hatton where Adeline taught in elementary school after her youngest daughter was born. Mr. Neyssen died in 1960.
In the fall of 1963, Adeline moved to Moorhead where she taught elementary school until she retired at the age of 62. On December 30, 1983, she was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Erickson. They made their home in Moorhead until 1998, when they moved to Fargo. Mr. Erickson died in 2002.
Adeline loved playing bridge, dancing, church activities, quilting and good conversation. She was a member of Eastern Star, Sons of Norway, Trinity Lutheran Church Ladies Aide, and Retired MN Teachers Association. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed laughing. She and second husband, Bob, enjoyed travel in the US and spending many weekends at the lake home of her daughter, Karen. She had two memorable trips to Norway with her sisters and her second trip included her daughter, Denise and niece Claire.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Ronald) Gunderson and Denise Neyssen; grandsons, Erik Gunderson and Kyle Gunderson; great-grandchildren, Carsyn and Haylee Gunderson; brother, Carsten Karlstad; sisters, Mardell Ostenson and DeLores Hanson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents; husbands, August Neyssen and Robert "Bob" Erickson; son, Kent Neyssen; and brother, Palmer Karlstad.
Visitation: Will be one hour prior to funeral, at the church.
Funeral: Thursday, January 17, 2013, at 11:00 AM, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Interment: St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Hatton, North Dakota
