Agnes Georgia Berg, 92, passed away Friday after a short illness. She was surrounded by family as she peacefully went to be with the Lord.
Agnes was born on August 2, 1913, minutes before her twin Adelyne in Pelican Rapids, MN. Agnes, a second generation Norwegian, grew up in the rural Pelican Rapids area and graduated from grade school in 1929. Agnes and her sister moved to Moorhead at the age of 16 and continued to live together for most of their lives. Agnes worked as a nurse for Dr. J.W. Duncan in Moorhead, usually working 6 days per week, until she retired. Agnes and her sister were active members of "The Camera Club" in Moorhead as well as the Soroptimist club, and education and politics were a passion for them both. They were members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead since 1988, where they belonged to the Anna circle.
Agnes lived life to the fullest, and even lived in her own home on her own terms until a hip fracture made it too difficult. It was her intention to return home after her hip healed. Although Agnes didn't marry or have children of her own, she was actively involved in her nieces and nephews lives. She cherished every moment spent with her extended family.
She is survived by 12 nieces and nephews, 30 great nieces and nephews, and 26 great-great nieces and nephews. Agnes was the last of her generation of the Berg family. She was preceded into death by her parents, Ole and Ida Berg; two sisters; Eveline Silverberg (1994) and Adelyne (2002); and four brothers; Marvin (1981), Richard (1986), Lawrence (1995), and Orville (10/14/2005).
Agnes was a devoted, caring and giving person who loved her family dearly, and lived life to its fullest. She will be missed by all who knew her.
A public visitation will be held Tuesday, November 1, from 4-7 PM at Korsmo Funeral Chapel in Moorhead with a prayer service at 6 PM.
Her funeral will be Wednesday November 2, at 11 AM in Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead
