Agnes Staiger, 95, Moorhead, MN, passed away Friday, April 2, 2010, in the loving presence of her daughter, Cynthia Funk, at Villa Maria, Fargo, ND, after a short battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
Agnes Elizabeth Schatz was born to John and Agnes Schatz on December 19, 1914, at the family farm east of Hebron, ND. The Schatz family moved into Hebron in 1916, where Agnes lived until 1938, when she married Theodore "Ted" Staiger in Helena, MT. Agnes and Ted resided in Helena until 1944. They moved back to ND and farmed near Hebron until 1984, when they moved to Richardton, ND. In 1998, both Agnes and Ted moved to Moorhead, MN to live with their daughter. Ted died February 13, 2000.
Agnes was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. From 1942 through 1954, she cared for her own mother who had become blind. She enjoyed playing cards, listening to polka music and reminiscing about the past.
Agnes is survived by her two children, David (Arlene) Staiger and Cynthia (William) Funk, both Moorhead; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, six brothers, six sisters and one daughter-in-law.
The funeral for Agnes will be Thursday, April 8, 2010, at 12:00 noon, in the chapel of Villa Maria, Fargo.
Visitation will be at Villa Maria one hour before the funeral.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Richardton, ND.
