Alfred E. Amundson

Alfred Edward Amundson was born December 8, 1913, on the family farm in Skree Township, Clay County, MN, to Edward and Gertie (Ronsberg) Amundson. Alfred was raised in that area where he attended school.

Alfred married Clarice Tangen on October 28, 1939, in Breckenridge, MN, and they lived and farmed in the Hawley and Barnesville, MN, area. They farmed until 1957 and moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1961.

Alfred worked for Gaffaney's Office Supply, Fargo, ND, from 1957 to 1967. He began working for Moorhead State University, Moorhead, in 1967, in the stock clerk department. He retired in 1978.

Alfred and Clarice continued to make their home in Moorhead and recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary. In the presence of his family, Alfred died Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Sanford Health Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, at one hundred and one years of age.

Alfred is survived by his wife, Clarice; sons, Alvin (Barbara), Moorhead, Rodney (Carol), Lake Elmo, MN; daughters, Marilyn (Zahi) Ismir, Brainerd, MN, and Lois (David) Olson, Shoreview, MN; grandchildren, Lynette (Lon) Flage, Paul (Najla) Amundson, Heidi (James Krzeminski) Amundson, Sarah (Steven) Mateski, Peter (Aki) Ismir, Erik (Jennifer) Olson, Britt Olson, Kirk (Evelyne) Olson, Katie (Randy) Barth, and Marit (Frank) Fastner; twenty-five great-grandchildren, Jordan, Alex (Lily) and Isaac Flage, Zachary, Evan, Zayd, and Ethan Amundson, Elliott and Lily Krzeminski, Julia and Alexandra Mateski, Leah and Aira Ismir, Bjorn and Elsa Olson, Cory and Maya Olson, Tyler, Emily, Jessica, Abbie, Olga and Hannah Barth, and Erick and Mia Fastner.

Visitation for Alfred will begin at 12 noon, followed by a funeral at 1 PM, on Monday, July 20, 2015, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead. Burial will be in Gran Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hawley, MN.
