Alice Eugenia "Jean" Hawley was born in Spokane, WA, on January 24, 1907, the youngest of 9 children. She passed away peacefully June 19, 2015, at the age of 108.
Shortly after her birth, the family moved back to Deerhorn Township near Wolverton, MN, and later to Barnesville, MN, where she graduated from high school in 1924. She earned her Teaching Certificate from Moorhead State Teachers College in 1927 and taught in several one-room schools in Minnesota and North Dakota. She received her 4- year degree in 1934.
On June 10, 1936, she married Albert S Langseth. They ran the Central Telephone Office in Glyndon, MN, for 7 years, then moved to the Langseth family farm near Glyndon.
In addition to being a farm wife and mother, Jean wrote the Glyndon News for 3 local newspapers and was active in Study Club, Homemakers, and numerous church activities for many years. She was an avid reader, loved quilting, genealogy, puzzles and games, especially Scrabble. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; her son, Duane and his wife, Vi "Snookie"; her infant son, Richard; and her son-in-law, Ronnie D. Williams. She is survived by her daughter, Pam Williams and son, Ray (Laurie) Langseth, both Fargo, ND; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was loved and will be missed greatly.
Visitation: Thursday, 4 PM to 7 PM with prayer service at 6 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN.
Funeral service: Friday, June 26, 2015, at 2 PM, in Maranatha Free Lutheran Church, Glyndon.
Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Glyndon.
