Alpha J. Anderson, age 87, Hastings, MN, formerly of Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, June 24, 2010, in Augustana Care Center in Hastings.
Alpha J. Hovelsrud, the daughter of Julius and Anna Hovelsrud, was born in rural Rollag, MN, on March 15, 1923. She grew up in the Rollag-Hawley, MN, area, and graduated from high school in Hawley.
On June 24, 1945, Alpha was united in marriage to Arnold L. Anderson at rural Hawley. The couple lived in Hawley, Detroit Lakes, MN, and Moorhead. Alpha worked in the business office of Moorhead State University for 27 years. She retired in 1988.
Her husband, Arnold, died in February of 1991. Alpha was also preceded in death by a son, Tim, who died in 1985; a sister, Bernice Norman; and brothers, Nilmar, Cliff and Melvin Hovelsrud.
In 2007, Alpha moved to Hastings, and in October of 2009, she became a resident of the Augustana Care Center in Hastings.
Alpha is survived by her daughter, Laurie Strauss, Hastings; three grandchildren, Jeff (Angie) Henning, Katie (fiancee, Joe Signorelli) Henning, and Kyle (Breonna) Henning; a great-granddaughter, Abby Henning; and two sisters, Alice Esbenson and Mae (Dean
