Alvin O. Hoff, Jr. was born January 20, 1937, in Moorhead, MN, to Alvin, Sr. and Frieda (Ystebo) Hoff. He grew up in Perley, MN, and graduated from high school in Borup, MN. After graduation, Alvin entered the Air National Guard.
On September 12, 1959, Alvin married Elaine Polfuss and they made their home in Glyndon, MN, eventually settling in Georgetown, MN. Alvin farmed in the Perley area and owned and operated Hoff Flying Service. Alvin moved to Colorado where he lived for several years before returning to Perley. He continued to operate his aerial application business until his retirement in 2000.
On September 23, 2002, Alvin married Della Ystebo. In the summer, they lived in Perley and at their lake cabin on Lake Lida. In the winter, they lived in Yuma, AZ.
Alvin died Wednesday, October 13, 2004, in his home in Perley, at the age of sixty-seven.
He is survived by his wife, Della; two sons, Scott (Patricia) and Steven (Valerie), both of Fargo, ND; a brother, Larry (Rose Ann), Audubon, MN; a sister, Doreen (Jerry) Schreuder, Mt. Vernon, WA; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife and his parents.
