Alvina O. Newman

Alvina O. Newman, 80, Moorhead, MN died Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Essentia, Fargo, ND.

Alvina Olga Bjerke was born March 5, 1944, Nils and Olga (Orwald) Bjerke on the family farm outside of Ulen, MN. She graduated from Ulen High School and then attended and graduated from Dakota Business College, Fargo.

On February 14, 1969, Alvina married Timothy Newman in Dilworth, MN. They made their home in Moorhead. Alvina worked at the Cass County Court House and Monarch Photo until she became a stay-at-home mom to her two sons, Mike and Jason. She later worked as the office manager for the family business, Thrifty Services, in Fargo.

She liked hummingbirds and feeding and watching wildlife. Alvina was the heart and soul of the family business. Alvina worked as the office manager at Thrifty Services up until the time of her death.

She is survived by her husband, Tim; her sons, Michael and Jason (Dee) Newman; and her sisters, Debbie Pollock and Carol Ellingson.

Alvina was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Dewy Bjerke, Wayne Bjerke, Diane Bjerke, Claris Hagen, Norma Hilde, Orpha Stumbo, and Eileen Karsten.
