Amelia "Mollie" Holm, age 89, died Thursday, February 17, 2011, in Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park, MN, where she had been a resident since April of 2009.
Amelia Klein was born April 22, 1921, in Wilton, ND, the daughter of Daniel and Katherine (Bauer) Klein. The family immigrated to the United States in June of 1913. Mollie, the sixth of ten children, grew up and attended school in the Wilton area.
Mollie married Elmer Holm on October 17, 1942, in Sisseton, SD. They lived in Bemidji, MN, and Fargo, ND, until moving to Glyndon, MN, in 1959. They owned and operated Holm's Custom Sheet Metal, retiring in 1973. In addition, Mollie worked at the Glyndon Grill and the Glyndon School.
In 1975, Mollie and Elmer moved to Ulen, MN, where Mollie was a cook in the Ulen Senior Citizen Center. In 1987, they returned to Glyndon. Elmer died June 4, 1989. Mollie moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1993.
Mollie is survived by two sons, James (Nancy), Lake Park, and Robert (Sandy), Dilworth, MN; stepdaughter, Beverly Meyers, St. Helens, OR; grandchildren, Christina (Ron) Sliwinski, Madison, WI, Kathy (Scott) Jorgensen, Hawley, MN, and Steven Holm, Hawley; great-grandchildren, Brianna Cole, Matthew Cole, and Isabella Jorgensen; numerous step- grandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren; brother, Benjamin Klein, Bismarck, ND; sister, Marcella Whitmore, Arlington Heights, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; three brothers, and four sisters
Mollie was a member of Glyndon Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking, baking, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Blessed be the memory of Mollie Holm.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, from 5 PM to 7 PM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. A private interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
