Andrew Melvin Lund, the son of Ingvold and Anna Lund, was born on May 30, 1935, in Wahpeton, ND. He was raised by foster parents, in Wolverton, MN, where he graduated from high school in 1952. He attended and graduated from Wahpeton (ND) State School of Science in 1954.
In 1958, Andrew enlisted in the US Marine Corps. While serving overseas, he was married to Olivia Goularte in Hong Kong, China, on November 22, 1959. He was discharged in 1961, and the couple returned to Wolverton. They later moved to Williston, ND, where Andrew worked as a printer for the Williston Herald Newspaper; in 1969, to Moorhead, MN; in 1974, to Sun Prairie, WI; and to Hutchinson, MN. In 1975, the family moved to Halstad, MN, where Andrew worked as a printer for the Valley Journal newspaper. He retired in 1988.
Andrew died on Wednesday, July 4, 2012, in Essentia Health, in Fargo, ND, at the age of 77. He is survived by his wife, Olivia, Halstad; sons, Mark, St. Robert, Missouri, and Ted, Canton, Ohio; daughter, Ann (Mark) Wambach, Ottertail, MN; three grandchildren, Ted Lund Jr., Jack Lund, and Kate Lund; and two sisters, Irene Haverland, Perham, MN, and Norma Schubert, Hankinson, ND.
Andrew was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Ingvold Lund; his foster parents, Annie and Barney Substad; brothers, Oscar, Martin, and Ingman Lund; and sisters, Ardis Damon, Marlys Cattarrozle, and Marie Iverson; and his foster sister, Sadie Overby.
Memorial Service: Monday, July 9, 2012, at 2 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, 409 South 8th Street, Moorhead, MN.
