Angeline “Angie” Wienckowski, 93, of Glyndon, MN, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024, in Bethany on University, Fargo, ND.
Angeline Caroline Weiler was born March 6, 1931, the daughter of Adam and Lena (Lamm) Weiler, in Richardton, ND. She spent her early years in Richardton where she attended school. She would then move with her family to Fargo where she began working as a waitress at Mother’s Café.
While working at Mother’s Café, Angie met Florian “Sunshine” Wienckowski, who would become her husband. They were married on May 5, 1950, in Detroit Lakes, MN. The couple initially resided in Fargo before establishing their family home on a farm near Glyndon where they raised their five children: Marie, Flynn, Stan, Lola and Kenny. Throughout the years, Angie worked at Silverline Boats and Johnson Controls and would later return to work as a waitress at the Highway Host in Glyndon. After the loss of Florian on September 19, 1987, Angie remained dedicated to her home on the farm until she moved to Bethany on University on July 31, 2024.
Angie had a variety of hobbies that brought her joy, including crocheting, knitting, reading, playing bingo, and completing jigsaw puzzles. She found great pleasure in gardening, tending to her flower beds and vegetable garden, often sharing her garden’s bounty with friends and neighbors. Known for her welcoming spirit, she enjoyed gathering with family and friends over coffee and desserts, particularly her famous chocolate brownies. Angie and Sunshine also opened their heart and home to many over the years, who still to this day loving call her “mom.” She also served as a Den Mother for the Glyndon-Felton Cub Scouts for a few years. Above all, Angie treasured her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
She is survived by her children, Marie Kvanvig, Fargo, Flynn Wienckowski, Detroit Lakes, Stan Wienckowski, and Lola (Kevin) Langlie, both of Glyndon; daughter-in-law, Dede Wienckowski, Fargo; grandchildren, Michael (Susan) Kvanvig, Michelle (Dave) Sherven, Angela “AJ” (Ryan) Nannenga, Huston Wienckowski and Shawna (Josh) Edwards; and great-grandchildren, Brandon and Dylan Kvanvig, Jerry (Breanna) Sherven and Jack Sherven, Jaydon, Zachary, and Wyatt Nannenga, and Pryce Edwards.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Florian “Sunshine”’; son Kenny Wienckowski; brothers, Joe and Adam Weiler; sisters, Pauline Gullingsrud and Isabelle Weiler; and son-in-law, Dennis Kvanvig.
In the words of Angie, “You Can Go Now, Love You!”
