Anita Erickson

Anita (Unruh) Erickson, 93, of Fargo, ND, was called to her heavenly home Tuesday, August 13, 2013. She was born to Daniel and Minnie Unruh on August 2, 1920, in Goodrich, ND, where she grew up with seven siblings. Anita graduated from Goodrich High School and attended Valley City State Teachers College and Taylor University, Upland, Indiana, preparing to teach at Sharon, McClusky and Hillsboro, ND.
On June 3, 1949, she married Orville Erickson and they settled on their farmstead near Hunter, ND. Their children are Serene (Tom) Ysteboe, Fargo, Jeanene (Rich) Engebretson, Edina, MN, Lorene (Doug) Anderson, Mesa, AZ, and Paul (Bonnie) Erickson, Hunter.
In 1968, Anita earned her B.S. Degree from Mayville State Teachers College. She taught in Hunter until she retired in 1983, allowing her to begin wintering with Orville in their Mesa home. In 1988, they moved from the farm to north Fargo, where they resided, until recently moving to Edgewood Vista Retirement Community in South Fargo.
Anita is survived by her husband, Orville; four children; eleven grandchildren, Jodie (Luther) Stueland, Jay (Shannon) Ysteboe, Megan (Michael) Stutzman, Thad Engebretson, Collin (Elizabeth) Engebretson, Tyler (Krista) Engebretson, Erin (Mitch) Malone, Ian Anderson, Rachel Silbertstein, Samuel (Barbara) Silberstein, and Hannah Erickson; great-grandchildren, Tommy and Emily Stueland, Joey and Charlie Ysteboe, Malachi and Milo Stutzman, Peyton Engebretson, and Max Malone; sisters, Ella Harmon and Helen (Kenny) Johnson; brother, Harold (Lila) Unruh; brother-in-law, Gene Perry; and many nieces and nephews.
God put within Anita a quiet servant heart. His deep love, grace and kindness was displayed as she served her husband, children, family, and friends. By God's strength she persevered with contentment, joyfulness and thankfulness.
Visitation: Sunday, 5 PM to 8 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral: Monday, August 19, 2013, at 1 PM, in Bethel Evangelical Free Church, 2702 30th Ave. South, Fargo.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
