Anita L. Leiseth, 89, of Moorhead, MN, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2024.
Anita Louise Korb and her twin sister, Arlene, were born September 19, 1935, on the family farm near Calio, ND, the daughter of Leo and Eleanor (Hanggi) Korb. Growing up in a family of seven children, she spent her childhood helping on the farm while attending grade school in Calio, graduating from Egeland (ND) High School.
Anita moved to Fargo and lived with her aunt and uncle while she attended Dakota Business College. It was during this time that she met Ronald Leiseth and they were married on May 29, 1957, at Trinity Lutheran Church and shared 45 years of marriage until Ron’s passing on October 11, 2002.
After graduating from Dakota Business College, Anita worked at Northern States Power. After the birth of her first child, Anita devoted herself to her family and volunteering within the community. She volunteered at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Eventide Fairmont, Sons of Norway, Hjemkomst Center, Dorothy Day House and the Lioness Club. Anita was also recognized by United Blood Services for many hours of dedicated service throughout the years.
In addition to her community involvement, Anita was an avid Bridge player and was known for her baking skills. She enjoyed sharing her baked goods, often delighting family, friends and neighbors, with her treats. Her special holiday baking of krumkake, rosettes, Mexican wedding cakes, and don’t forget her strawberry rhubarb jam, were be cherished by many.
Anita is survived by her children, Denise (Dale) Hudson, Fargo, Kevin Leiseth, Yakima, WA, Debra Leiseth Nesseth, Moorhead, and Lisa (Dan) Sorensen, Kent, WA; seven grandchildren, Kristi (Rob) Hudson Schroeder, Vicki (James) Schumm, Jeffrey Leiseth, Jessica (Zac) Hanson Thurn, Nicholas Hanson, Lynette (Eric) Greisen and Marla (Jesse) Barton; five great-grandchildren; McKinzie Ambuehl, Morgan Ambuehl, Jayden Ambuehl, Peyton Schumm, Paislie Schumm and Arlo Hanson Thurn; three great-great grandchildren, Jasper Henkelman, Zayn Shafer, and Oakley Bittner; siblings, Eugene Korb, Fennimore, WI, twin sister, Arlene Koble, St. Peter, MN, Donalda Miller, Kenosha, WI, Robert (Janice) Korb, Great Falls, MT and Harold (Anne) Korb, Chesterfield, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald Leiseth; grandson, Alexander Sorensen; daughter-in-law, Brenda Leiseth; son-in-law, James Nesseth; and brother, Duane Korb.
A Visitation for Anita will be Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a 6:30 PM, Prayer Service in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead. Her Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 16, 2024, in Trinty Lutheran Church, Moorhead. She will be laid to rest in Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
