Anna C. Swanson

Anna Caroline Johanson was born July 13, 1922, on the family farm near Chaffee, ND, to Gustav and Olga (Andersen) Johanson. She attended school in that area where she excelled in basketball and cheerleading. The family moved to Moorhead, MN, when she was a teenager, and she graduated from Moorhead Normal School.

Anna worked in the shipyards in Seattle, WA, during WWII and returned to Moorhead where she worked as a seamstress for Matson Furriers. She married L. Orville "Tiny" Swanson on September 16, 1949, in Moorhead.

They made their home in Fargo where they owned and operated Swanson Construction Company. Orville died April 9, 1987, and Anna continued to make her home in Fargo until moving to Eventide the Fairmont, Moorhead. She only recently entered Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead, where she died Friday, August 26, 2016, at ninety-four years of age.

Anna is survived by her son, Dean (Dorene) Swanson, Otsego, MN; daughter, Colleen (Richard) McLaughlin, Fargo; four grandchildren, Kristinia (Kenneth) Gudgel, Elizabeth Cody, Meghan (Peter) Swanson Dangerfield, and Morgan (Chris) Swanson Early; and seven greatgrandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers; four sisters; and a great-grandson, William Clark Dangerfield.

Visitation will begin at 10 AM, with a funeral at 11 AM, Tuesday, August 30, 2016, in Hope Lutheran Church, North Campus, Fargo.
