Anna E. Schneider

Anna Schneider, 92, Moorhead, MN, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 7, 2016, in the care of the staff at Eventide on Eighth and Hospice of the Red River Valley, surrounded by her family.

Anna Elizabeth Anderson was born to Rev. Thomas and Anna Anderson on October 27, 1923, in Petersburg, ND. The family moved to Perley, MN, when Anna was a young child. She lived in Perley through high school, graduating from Borup (MN) High School in 1941.

Anna attended classes at Concordia College, Moorhead, and North Dakota Agricultural College, Fargo, ND, graduating from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing, Fargo, and receiving her RN certification in 1944. Anna worked at hospitals in Chicago, IL, Fort Custer, MI, Rapid City, SD, and San Antonio, TX, before returning to Fargo.

While working at St. John's Hospital in Fargo, Anna met Dr. Joseph Schneider. They were married on June 29, 1948. They made their home in Moorhead and raised three children. Anna lived in Moorhead the rest of her life.

An avid volunteer, Anna participated in many activities including those on behalf of the St. Ansgar Auxiliary. She worked for the American Cancer Society and United Blood Services. She was a founding member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Moorhead, and spent countless hours serving the church in many capacities over her 63-year membership.

Anna was an active member of PEO, serving as the chapter chaplain for many years. She was also a member of the Moorhead Country Club. A member of the FM Horticultural Society, she enjoyed raising flowers, shrubs, and trees and made her mark at her south Moorhead home and her seasonal lake home on Pelican Lake. Her Moorhead home's rose garden was a special delight. She spent countless hours at Pelican Lake in the company of several very special neighbors enjoying its many beauties.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Hedvig and Valborg; brothers, Edgar, Thomas, and Glen; and grandsons, Kevin and Craig. She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Schneider (Arthur Bone), Lincoln, RI; sons, John (Paulette) Schneider, Fargo, and Joseph (Karen) Schneider, Moorhead; grandsons, Paul (Lindsay), Tom, and Jeff (Ann); great-grandchildren, Connor, Mara, and Adam; and many nieces, nephews and their families.

Visitation for Anna will be Thursday from 5PM to 7 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Her funeral service will be Friday, August 12, 2016, at 11 AM in Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Moorhead.
