Anthony Jerome "Tony" Eberhardt, 82, Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, June 24, 2012, in Essentia Health, Fargo, ND. Tony was born December 4, 1929, to Arthur and Marie (Kunze) Eberhardt in the family home in Juanita, ND, where Tony grew up and received his education.
Tony married his childhood friend and sweetheart, Gloria Johnson, on September 2, 1950, in Fargo. He served his country in the US Army from 1951 to 1953. Following his honorable discharge, Tony and Gloria made their home in Moorhead. In 1969, they moved to Burnsville, MN, and later to Racine, WI. Tony worked for JI Case for 35 years, retiring as a machinery manager. After retiring in 1984, Tony and Gloria moved to Pickerel Lake, MN. In 2001, they returned to Moorhead, where they have lived since.
Tony was known for his sense of humor, and his never ending supply of stories and jokes. He loved to play old songs on the piano, he always had beautiful flower gardens at the lake, took up painting with oil paints after retiring, and was an avid fisherman. Above all else he was devoted to his wife and daughters and his entire extended family.
Tony is survived by his wife, Gloria, Moorhead; three daughters, Rita (Jay) Olson, Fargo, Terese Ann (Alan) Burmeister, Hayden, CO, and Cathy (Robert) Shorma, Boulder, CO; five grandchildren, Anthony (Jenn), Alex and Eric Olson, and Sophie and Jared Shorma; a sister, Mavis Hall, Columbia Heights, MN; and a brother, Michael (Lillian) Eberhardt, Casselton, ND. Tony was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Jeanette Eberhardt Shenko; and his brother, James Eberhardt.
Visitation: Sunday, 5 PM to 7 PM, with a prayer service at 5 PM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral: Monday, July 2, 2012, at 11 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.
