Ardee C. Johnson, 86, of Fargo, ND, formerly Moorhead, MN, died on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo with his loving family at his side. He was born on January 16, 1923 to George and Minnie Johnson in Gwinner, ND. He attended Concordia College for one year, where he met his wife, Eunice, then transferred to NDSU and continued there until May of 1943. In February 1944, he entered the U.S. Army and served in World War II in Europe with the 63rd Armored Infantry Battalion of Patton's Third Army. He received the Bronze Star in April 1945 and was discharged in May 1946. After discharge he went back to college and graduated from NDSU in 1948 with a B.S. degree in Agriculture Education. He taught Agriculture in Halstad, MN, for three years, and then in 1951 he entered the life insurance business, working as a Chartered Life Underwriter for Massachusetts Mutual for more than 50 years.
Ardee is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Eunice (nee Stennes), and their four children: Bruce (Shirley) of Fargo, Jennifer (William) Cahoy of St. Cloud, MN, Cynthia (Stephen) Bratlie of Breckenridge, MN, and Mark (Ronda) of Fargo; brother, Leslie (Delores) Johnson of Gwinner; foster sister, Pearl Davies of Troy, Kansas; grandchildren, Peter (Leah) Johnson, David, Paul and Anna Cahoy, Kaitlin, Meghan (Brad Garry), and Kelsey Bratlie, Olivia and Luke Johnson; and eight nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 16, from 5:30-7:00, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 in The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 4000 28th St. S., Moorhead, MN.
The Funeral will be Wednesday, June 17, at 2:00 pm in the church with Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Moorhead.
Memorials preferred to Concordia College or The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
