Arlene Payne

January 28, 1938 — September 26, 2013

Arlene Payne, 75, Fargo, ND, passed from this life into her heavenly home on Thursday, September 26, 2013, in Sanford Health, Fargo.

Arlene Delores Payne was born on January 28, 1938, to Irwin and Irene (Lenthe) Payne, in Fargo. She spent her childhood in Argusville, ND, and West Fargo, ND, where she graduated from high school in 1956. She worked for several years as a secretary for her father at Payne Pumice Inc. Arlene retired to Villa Maria, where she spent the last nine and a half years of her life.

Arlene was baptized and confirmed in Grace Lutheran Church, Fargo, and was a lifelong member. Her claim to fame was making afghans for the baptism of each new baby at the church. Her family estimates that she made well over 150 afghans throughout the years. The church still has so many they have not been able to use them all yet!

Arlene is survived by a brother, Derald "Dick" Payne, Dickinson, ND; half-sister, Luverne Hansen, Hillsboro, ND; aunt, Laura Lisle, Milwaukee, WI; nieces and nephews, Marilyn (Curt) Zimdars, Badger, MN, David (Kari) Majer, Middle River, MN, Cheryl Majer, Moorhead, MN, Grant (Heather) Honeman, Tuscon, AZ, and Michelle Honeman, Tuscon; great-nieces and great-nephews, Kayla (Kirk) Calmes, and Kyle, Braden, Bailey, Kyra, Kourtney and Kaitlyn Majer; and two great-great-nieces, Delilah and Kadence.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Donna Majer and Kay Honeman; and brother, Larry Payne.
