Arlene N. Tangen, 83, Dilworth, MN, formerly of Moorhead, MN, and Hawley, MN, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at ManorCare, Fargo, ND.
Arlene Norma Neubauer was born September 30, 1928, to Herman and Augusta (Boettcher) Neubauer in Mahnomen, MN. She was raised in Mahnomen and attended school there.
On March 29, 1953, Arlene married Elling Tangen in Mahnomen and they made their home in Hawley. Arlene worked as a cook at the Ok Diner for 16 years. At the age of 50, she got her GED and then went to Moorhead Tech. for a year.
In 1969, Elling died and Arlene continued to make her home in Hawley until moving to Moorhead in 1980. Arlene loved to play Bingo and cards. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and gathering with friends and family.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Pat) Kemmer, Douglas Tangen, and Roger Tangen; two grandchildren, Zachary Tangen and Stephanie (fiancé, James Irvine) Tangen; a great-granddaughter, Emma Irvine; sisters-in-law, Clarice (Alfred) Amundson and Dorothy Tangen; and a brother-in-law, Leonard Tangen. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Linnea Neubauer, Evelyn Straub, Luverne Knowles and Elva Bellcourt; and three brothers, Marvin, Edward and Harold Neubauer.
Visitation: Saturday, 1 - 2 PM, Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Funeral: Saturday, May 12, 2012, at 2 PM, Trinity Lutheran Church.
Burial: Hawley Cemetery, Hawley MN.
