Arline K. Shiers, 81, died peacefully at home Thursday morning, March 30, 2006 under care of her family and Hospice in Fargo, ND.

Arline was born May 5, 1924, to Arnold and Sylvia (Taraba) Kline in Montgomery, MN. She grew up and graduated from high school in Montgomery where one of her most treasured memories was being crowned Kolacky Queen 1941. After high school Arline attended and graduated from Business College, beginning her career as a Stenographer for a County Extension Agent office. In 1943, Arline moved to California and took employment with the U.S. Maritime Commission during WWII. It was in California where she met her future husband, R. Dale Shiers.

Arline and Dale married October 5, 1945, in Montgomery. She worked hard to support her husband and raise her children while the couple moved to various towns, constructing water treatment projects in Minnesota and North Dakota. In 1962 Arline and Dale settled in Moorhead, to start a construction company and continue raising six children. Following Dale's death in 1985, Arline lived in their Moorhead home three years before taking final residence in Fargo in 1988.

Arline passionately enjoyed her grandchildren, her church family at Christ the King, summers at the lake, golfing, volunteering at a local hospital, and worldwide adventures and travel. She also enjoyed playing cards, scrabble and Masters level Tournament Bridge with her friends. Throughout her life, Arline maximized her experiences and aspired to live each day to its fullest.
