Arlo E. Bourcy, 78, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023, in his home surrounded by family, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Arlo Eugene Bourcy was born on January 22, 1945, to Wayne and Signe (Engquist) Bourcy, in Moorhead, MN. He graduated from Moorhead Senior High School in 1963. After high school Arlo served in the United States Army with the Airborne Artillery. He was very proud of his service to his country and had many fond memories from his time in the Army. After his time in the service, Arlo worked for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers as a journeyman electrician.
Arlo loved spending time with his family and friends, including his three daughters and his grandchildren. He had a huge heart, and despite his intimidating stature, children loved him. He was also a Harley-Davidson enthusiast. He loved taking motorcycle trips with his best friend and significant other, Arlene. They enjoyed many motorcycle rallies together, surrounded by friends and loved ones. Arlo had a charisma that created a huge network of long-lasting friends wherever he went. His Harley-Davidson motorcycle was passed down to his daughter, Amy, when he could no longer ride, continuing Arlo’s passion for riding in the family.
Arlo was a big history buff, taking special interest in the Civil War, WWI, and WWII. He enjoyed hunting and collecting guns. He loved singing karaoke, especially Johnny Cash songs, a favorite was ‘Sunday Morning Coming Down.’ He was also a scuba diver and shared his hobby with his two daughters, Timberly and Penny.
Arlo touched a lot of lives over the years and will be deeply missed.
Arlo is survived by his partner of over 20 years, Arlene; daughters, Timberly Bourcy, Amy Bourcy, and Penny (Jeremy) Ripperger; grandchildren, Jarret Ripperger, Jordyn Ripperger, and Karina Bourcy; siblings, Duainne (Paula), Marlys McCrehin, Jim (Donna), Lyle (Betty), and Debbie (Dale) Klein; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Signe; and sisters, Josephine Carlson and Betty (Wayne) Potter.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the American Legion Riders (https://mylegion.org/PersonifyEbusiness/Donate#legion-org) or Veterans Honor Flight (https://www.veteranshonorflightofndmn.org).
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023, from 5PM to 7PM with a prayer service starting at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead. Arlo’s memorial service will be on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 9 AM, in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Moorhead. The burial will be in Moorhead Memorial Gardens following the service.
