Arthur O. Anderson, 93, Moorhead, MN, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, in Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo, ND.
Arthur Oswald Anderson, the son of Ray and Anna (Fossum) Anderson was born in Fargo on July 20, 1918. He grew up and received his education in Moorhead, where he graduated from high school. During WW II, Arthur served his country in the US Army overseas in Europe.
While still in the service, Arthur was united in marriage to Beatrice Grundfor on May 6, 1943. They made their home in Moorhead. Art worked for the Great Northern and later the Burlington Northern Railroad. He retired in 1978. Art was a member of the American Legion and the Sons of Norway. He was an accomplished handyman and could repair just about anything.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice, who died in 1971; his parents; and a sister, Rhoda Nelson. In recent months, he moved from his home in Moorhead to Sheyenne Crossings in West Fargo, ND.
Arthur is survived by two daughters, Cheryl (Deke) Diegal, Fargo, and Rosalynn (Jerry) Grover, West Fargo; a son, Art (Sherry) Anderson, Horace, ND; four grandchildren, Amy and Austin Grover, and Ryan (Sherri) and Greg (Stefanie) Anderson; and two great-granddaughters, Brooklyn and McKenna Anderson.
Visitation: Tuesday, 5 PM to 8 PM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral: Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at 1 PM in Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 4000 28th Street South, Moorhead.
Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
