Arthur L. Ruud

Arthur Leroy Ruud was born June 6, 1916, to Gustav and Ellen (Anderson) Ruud, in Christine, ND, where he was raised and graduated from high school in 1934. Arthur worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps for the Minnesota State Department of Forestry at Itasca State Park and then served three years in the Army Air Corps, during WW II, as an instrument flying instructor.
On December 2, 1950, Arthur married Ruby Moen in Sisseton, SD, and they made their home in Fargo, ND. Arthur worked as a senior appraiser and construction analyst for the Veterans Administration. After a total of thirty-one years of federal service, Arthur retired in 1972. Arthur and Ruby enjoyed traveling following his retirement. Arthur was a member of the Fargo American Legion, the 40 et 8, the Elks Lodge, Sons of Norway, and Peace Lutheran Church, Fargo, for many years.


Ruby preceded Arthur in death on December 12, 1997, and Arthur moved to the Waterford at Harwood Groves, Fargo, the following year. Arthur died Monday, April 19, 2004, at MeritCare South Campus, Fargo, at eighty-seven years of age. In addition to Ruby, Arthur was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Arthur is survived by three nephews, Howard (Jan) Frisk, McLeod, ND, Larry Ruud, San Jose, CA, and Jimmy (Pam) Ruud, Stockton, CA; and seven nieces, JoAnn (Art) Solberg, Wyndmere, ND, Carolyn (Al) Wyum, Sunnyvale, CA, Linda (Bob) Liebelt, Moorhead, MN, Judy Cusey, Fargo, Jeanette (Rick) Schaeffer, Bismarck, ND, Becky (Brad) King, Fargo, and Debbie (Larry) Lenius, Moorhead.
Arthur's funeral will be Friday, April 23, 2004, at 2 PM, in Peace Lutheran Church, Fargo. Visitation will be at the church one hour before the funeral. Burial with military honors will be at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
