Audrey Jean Krauth, 81, Moorhead MN, died at home, on Friday, June 28, 2013, surrounded by family caregivers, under Hospice care, after a long battle with cancer.
Audrey was born on a farm near Baker, MN, to Gerald and Elizabeth (Quiggle) Griffin. After attending country school, then Assumption Catholic School and High School in Barnesville, MN, she married Richard W. (Dick) Krauth on April 11, 1951, at Assumption Church in Barnesville. They raised their four children in Moorhead. The family has grown to include 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and many special spouses as additions to the family.
She enjoyed spending time with the family and entertaining at home feeding a crowd. She loved spending time at the lakes in the summer and spending winters in Texas for many years. She has many friends whom she met in Texas and stayed in touch with and looked forward to seeing each year. Audrey especially looked forward to each and every birth of a new baby in the family and enjoyed watching them play right to the end. She was a proud Life Member of the Court St. Mary Catholic Daughters of the Americas where she was a member for more than 50 years.
Audrey is survived by her husband, Dick; children, Pat (Ann) Krauth, Hastings, MN, Deb (Steve) Gravalin, Pelican Rapids, MN, and Bob (Janice) Krauth, Owatonna, MN; siblings, Ken (Sharon) Griffin, Junction City, KS, Mickey (Jim) Schneider, Moorhead, Ann (Don) Mertes, Moorhead, and Mary (Wes) Ewine, Bismarck ND; grandchildren, Kristi (Josh) Krueger, Fargo, Michael (Nikki) Krauth, Hastings, Jonathan (Nicki) Krauth, Hastings, Shawn (Whitney) Gravalin, Pelican Rapids, Ryan (Kelsey) Gravalin, Fargo, Justin (Heather Thompson) Gravalin, Fargo, Jerry (Sheryl) Krauth, Moorhead, Heidi (James) Meline, Fargo, Tiffaney (Matt) Fry, North Branch MN, and Samuel Krauth, Fargo; 16 very special great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Richard (Rick) Krauth.
Visitation: Sunday, 5 pm to 7 pm, with a prayer service at 7 pm, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral Mass of Christian burial: Monday, July 1, 2013, at 10 am, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead, followed by a light lunch.
Burial: St Joseph's Catholic Cemetery Moorhead. Arrangements by Korsmo Funeral Service, Moorhead, MN.
