Audrey M. Marchand

January 26, 1931 — July 12, 2015

Audrey Marchand, 84, died in her home on July 12, 2015, under the loving care of her family with support from Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Audrey Maurine Adamy was born January 26, 1931, in Detroit Lakes, MN, to Maurice and (Opal) Irene Adamy. The family moved to Fargo-Moorhead in 1942 and Audrey graduated from Moorhead High School and worked in the family's grocery store, Adamy's Market, in Fargo. She married George Marchand on June 19, 1951, and they raised five daughters in Moorhead, where they have lived since. Audrey was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for 64 years and a lifetime member of Christian Mothers. While firmly rooted as a 12th Street Neighbor for 55 years, she traveled to the Bahamas, Arizona, Alaska, the North Carolina beaches, and to search out her roots in France and Luxembourg. Over the course of her life, Audrey embraced a variety of roles: homemaker, avid bridge player among her friends at the Hjemkomst Center and other clubs, Eventide employee, Avon lady, Moorhead Public Schools employee, 'Curtis Girl,' and loyal Twins fan. But the roles she assumed most lovingly were those that bound her to all of us who will miss her most: sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend.

Audrey is survived by George, her husband of 64 years, and by their five daughters, Barbara (Scott) Nelson of Tempe, AZ, Beverly (Doug) Harbrecht of Plymouth, MN, Beth (Warren) Hilde of Moorhead, Betty (Doug) Hanson of Moorhead, and Bonnie (Jeff) Loe of Georgetown, MN; Audrey's three sisters and one brother-in-law, Gloria Fortier of Fargo, Betty and Paul Sather of El Cajon, CA, and Beverly Fay of Moorhead; fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Jill (Scott) Bagshaw, Becky (Harry Colas) Nelson, and Brian Nelson, Michael, Lauren and Emma Wedel, Tom and Laura Hilde, Chase, Lucas, and Grant Hanson, Nicholas, Jamison, and Mason Kerr, and Payton, Faith, and Ella Bagshaw. All, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family, hold Audrey dear in their hearts and will remember her presence in their lives as a bright spot of loving grace.

The family suggests Hospice of the Red River Valley for memorial donations.

A Visitation for Audrey will be Thursday from 5 PM until 6:30 PM with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Her Memorial Mass will be Friday, July 17, 2015, at 11 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.
