Barbara E. Bruner, 84, of Lino Lakes, MN, formerly of Moorhead, MN and Hunter, ND, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2023, in Riverfront on Main Memory Care in Pelican Rapids, MN.

Barbara Elaine Nohr was born July 19, 1939, the daughter of Albert and Betty (McBride) Nohr in Tower City, ND.  As a young girl she moved with her family to Moorhead where she graduated from Moorhead High School in 1957. 

Barbara was united in marriage to Wesley Haarstad on August 2, 1957, in Moorhead.  They lived and raised their six children in Moorhead, Jamestown, ND, Sartell, MN and Saybrook, IL.  On March 22, 1980, Barbara was united in marriage to Jerry Decker and they established their home in Hunter, ND.  She then worked as a home health aide for Fargo-Cass County Community Health and loved being a volunteer with the Hunter Ambulance Service. Jerry passed away on February 27, 1992.  She continued to live in Hunter for many years until moving to Fargo.   Barbara would later marry John Bruner on March 2, 2002.  They made their home in Lino Lakes, MN and spent their winters in Mesa, AZ.   For the last two years, she has been a resident of Riverfront on Main Memory Care in Pelican Rapids.    

Barbara was an amazing cook and enjoyed sewing and working with stained glass.  One of her greatest joys was also spending time and working in her flower gardens. 

She is survived by her husband, John, Lino Lakes, MN; children, Scott (Carol) Haarstad, Edina, MN, Vance Haarstad, Bloomington, IL, Kathy (Kelan) Luptak, Bismarck, ND and Tom (Becky) Haarstad, Vergas, MN; daughter-in-law, Barbara Haarstad, El Paso, TX; grandchildren, Michael, Robert, Chelsea (Omar), Carly, David, Alex, Taylor and Danielle; great-grandchildren, Mason, Noah, Faithlynn and Alivia; brother, Warren (LuJean) Nohr, Vergas, MN; sister, Sandie (Dick) Deilke, Vergas, MN; sister-in-law, Sandy Nohr, Fargo, ND; and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Wesley and Jerry; sons, Randy Haarstad and Dean Haarstad; and brother, Darryl Nohr. 

Barbara’s family would like to thank the staff at Riverfront on Main and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their excellent care. 

In lieu of flowers, Barbara’s family requests that donations may be directed to the Hunter Ambulance Service, c/o Dakota Heritage Bank, PO Box 268, Hunter, ND 58048.

A Funeral Service for Barbara will be Friday August 11, 2023, at 1:00 PM in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead, with a visitation beginning at 11:30 AM.

A Graveside service will be Friday at 4:00 PM in Buffalo Cemetery, Buffalo, ND.
