Barbara D. Sellent

Barbara D. Sellent, 84, of Sabin, MN, died Monday, December 9, 2013, in Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo, ND

Barbara Diane Fankhanel was born October 10, 1929, in Fargo, to John and Katheryn (Thompson) Fankhanel. She grew up in Sabin, MN, graduated from Moorhead High School in 1947, and earned a teaching degree from Moorhead State Teachers College in 1949.

Barb taught school in Baker, MN, and Hallock, MN, where she met fellow teacher and future husband, Edward Sellent. Barb and Ed were married on June 12, 1953, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sabin, celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary this summer. They made their home in Sabin until moving to Moorhead in 2011. Barb continued to work as a substitute teacher while raising her children.

Barb's passion was her five children, and not a day went by that they didn't know they were deeply loved. She was known for her marvelous baking skills, especially her cinnamon and caramel rolls, and the family genealogies that she painstakingly researched and wrote. She enjoyed spending time with her family and lifelong friends, reading, playing cards, crocheting, bowling and making cards on her computer. Her grandchildren were especially important to her.

Barb is survived by her loving husband, Ed; three children, Barb Moses, Houston, TX, Carl (Barb) Sellent, San Diego, CA, and Steve (Nadine) Sellent, Moorhead; daughter-in-law, Carol (Dennis Bollinger) Sellent, Sabin; five grandchildren, Mandy (Nick) Dablow, Kristin Sellent, William Sellent, Jordan Klovstad, and Joni Klovstad; and sister, Katheryn (Don) Pipho, Phoenix, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Edward and Jim; and brother, Jack.

Visitation: Thursday, 5 PM to 7 PM with a Prayer Service at 6:00 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Funeral Service: Friday, December 13, 2013, at 11:00 AM, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Sabin.

Interment: Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Sabin.
