Barbara Helgren

Barbara A. Helgren went to be with the Lord on June 16, 2014, in Fargo, ND. She was diagnosed with a gastric cancerous tumor on June 11; peacefully passing away five days later at home surrounded by family and loved ones. At 90 years old, she met her diagnosis with grace and dignity.
Barbara Amy King was born in San Diego, CA, on May 7, 1924, to Percy and Mary Ellen King and was the oldest of three. She graduated from El Portal High School in 1942; later attending Pasadena Bible College. She married Henning Helgren on December 26, 1949, and farmed in Moorhead. They celebrated 35 years of marriage just before losing him to cancer in 1985. She was active in her church and the Christian Women's Club.
She was truly a classy lady, dedicated wife, loyal friend, supportive mom, and loving grandmother. She will be missed and remembered by all.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Nancy Malone.
She is survived by her brother, Alan King, of San Diego; daughters, Patti (Tim) Deegan, Carol Helgren, Barb (Lance) Pearson, and Mary Jo (Lino) Ybarra; son, Roger Helgren; grandchildren, Matthew, Britt Marie, and Sara Deegan, Jon Helgren, Nicholas (Lindsey) Ybarra, Nathan Ybarra, and JoEllen (Justin) Gall; great-grandchildren, Eden and Demi Ybarra.
