Barbara J. Bergee

Barbara Jean (Jahner) Bergee, 77, passed away peacefully in her Dilworth (MN) home surrounded by family on October 10, 2021, after a difficult battle with cancer. Barbara was born to Frank and Eva (Sticka) Jahner on December 4, 1943, in Dickinson, ND, and grew up on a farmstead near Mott, ND. She married Eugene Bergee on March 20, 1962. They made their home in Dilworth where they raised their five children and formed many lasting friendships.

Barb's life was anchored in faith and her love for family. She opened her heart and home to daycare families for over 40 years. These families hold a special place in her heart and have remained in contact with her over the years. In addition to her five children and their spouses, Barb was blessed with 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren who brought tremendous joy to her life and chaos to the holidays. She made it a point to attend their activities and special events. She loved entertaining and was best known for her spaghetti sauce with meatballs, pumpkin and apple pie, sugar cookies, gingersnaps, and lefse. Barb enjoyed her many travels with Gene, cross stitching, playing cards, doing puzzles, and watching the MN Twins and Vikings.

Barb will be dearly missed by Gene, her husband of 59 years; her children, Rahn (Elana) Bergee, Daniel (Kristen) Bergee, Susan Bergee, Sandra (Matt) Krieg, and Nancy (Ross) Wilson; her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Barb is also survived by four brothers, five sisters, plus many nieces and nephews.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Fred; and two nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, from 5:00-6:30pm in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Dilworth, with a prayer service starting at 6:30pm. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Elizabeth on Thursday, October 14, 2021 with the Rosary being prayed at 10:30am followed by the funeral at 11:00am. A luncheon will be served immediately following Mass with the burial in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead, MN. In lieu of flowers, Barb's family requests that memorials be made to the Religious Education Fund at St. Elizabeth where Barb was a parishioner for 55 years.
