Barbara J. Thompson

Barbara J. Thompson, 63, of Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, May 8, 2014, in her home.

Barbara Jean Hillstrom was born January 31, 1951, in St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Paul V. and Dorothy (Reitan) Hillstrom. She was raised in Moorhead attending Moorhead Public Schools until 1967, when she moved with her family to Minnetonka, MN, graduating from Minnetonka High School in 1969.

In 1969, Barbara was married and was blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Danyelle, in 1970, who was truly the love of her life. Starting in 1972, she began working as an accountant. She later attended the University of Minnesota for two years, majoring in taxation between two countries.

In July of 2012, after becoming seriously ill, she moved back to Moorhead to be with her brother Dan. Dan was her greatest support and took care of her until the end of her life.

Barbara is survived her daughter, Dani (Jeff) Thorson, Prior Lake, MN; grandchildren, Melaney, Brandyn, Madi, Riley and Ella; brother, Dan Hillstrom, Moorhead; sister, Karen Von Holtz, Minnetonka; nephew, Jonathan; and niece, Kristy.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Barbara also wanted to acknowledge the incredible friends who she could depend for moral support day and night throughout her life.

Barbara's final wish is "Don't be sad or mourn me, I am finally free".

Visitation: One hour prior to memorial service.

Memorial Service: Saturday, May 17, 2014, at 2:00 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel in Moorhead.

Interment: Hoff Lutheran Cemetery, Rustad, MN
