Barbara R. Grossman

Barbara R. Grossman, 76, Moorhead, MN, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, January 11, 2022, in her residence.
Barbara Rose Sobieck was born June 16, 1945, in Little Falls, MN, to Raymond and Eva (Richard) Sobieck. As a young girl, she attended school in a one room schoolhouse near Bowlus, MN. She graduated in 1963 from St. Francis High School in Little Falls, MN. Barb furthered her education at St. Cloud State studying psychology and sociology, earning her Bachelor of Science degree.
After college she moved to Minneapolis and taught art for a special needs program. On July 2, 1975, Barb was united in marriage to Arnold Grossman. That same year they settled in Moorhead. Barb worked as a nurse's aide for St. Ansgar's Hospital. Barb started substitute teaching and for a few years worked for Friendship Village. She later accepted a position with Fargo Public Schools as a teacher's aide. For over 20 years Barb taught piano lessons and worked side by side with the teachers in Fargo. In 2012, Barb retired. She continued to teach piano lessons, when possible, but enjoyed pursuing her love for arts and crafts. She also enjoyed gardening, baking, canning, needle point and sewing. She loved all animals, especially horses and dogs and most importantly, spending time with her family and being "Grandma."
Barb will be remembered and missed by her lifelong companion, Arnold Grossman; daughter, Gena (Chris) Bohn; grandchildren, Tristan, Sylvia and Ethan; siblings, Katherine Sobieck, Karlene (Rolly) Jendro, Charles Sobieck, Peggy (Jim) Truman and James (Ann) Sobieck.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Jean Pfleiderer.
