Barbara Wald

Barbara J. Wald died on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND, at the age of 83.
Barbara Jean Brown was born March 21, 1930, In Monango ND, to William and Lillian Brown. She attended school in Monango and graduated from high school in 1948. She was on the 1945 Championship Basketball team with her Dad as the coach.
On November 15, 1949, Barb married Leo J. Wald in Edgeley, ND. They resided on the family farm for 32 years where they raised their nine children. She was employed at the Manor in LaMoure, ND, for a few years before they moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1981. They built a house in south Moorhead in 1986. Leo passed away Aug. 14, 1989. Barbara continued to live in Moorhead until March 2013 when she entered Eventide Lutheran Home.
Barbara was a very hard working and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings, Twins, and FM Redhawks. She was truly blessed to have spent the last 16 years of her life with her very special friend and companion, Merle Ginsbach, West Fargo, ND. They spent the last few winters in Texas until her health failed. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moorhead.
She is survived by her nine children, Kathy (Rick) Morgan, Sun City, AZ, Greg (Melinda) Wald, Fargo, Pam (Al) Olson, West Fargo, Jeff Wald, Jamestown, ND, Jim Wald, Oceanside, CA, Tom Wald, Moorhead, Karen (Don) Eichhorn, Wahpeton, ND, Karla (Ken) Kvaale, Ellsworth, MN, and Don (Marcie) Wald, Wahpeton; 14 grandchildren, Jon Morgan, Nikki Mathison, Kyle, Ryan & Jodee Wald, Brodie Wald, Kessie (Cody) Baier, Brandi (Brady) Nash, Brian (Sarah) & Dan Eichhorn, Dylan (Jenna), Rachel, & Travis Kvaale, and Aerika Wald; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
Visitation: Friday, 4 PM until 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral Mass: Saturday, August 24, 2013, at 11 AM, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead. Burial: St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
