V. Beatrice Astrup, 88, rural Gardner, ND, died Friday, January 5, 2007, in the Evergreens, Fargo, ND, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Beatrice was born June 26, 1918, on a farm in rural Felton, MN, to Henry and Gertrude (Bradford) Hite. She attended country school in Felton and graduated from Kindred (ND) High School in 1936 as the Salutatorian of her class.
Beatrice then attended Moorhead (MN) State Teacher's College, graduating with a teaching degree. She taught rural country school in Wolverton, MN, Rothsay, MN, and Georgetown, MN.
On February 14, 1943, Beatrice married Justin N. Astrup at Concordia Lutheran Church, rural Glyndon, MN. They lived for a short time on a farm near Dilworth, MN, then moved to rural Gardner where they lived for sixty years. Justin died on the family farm on June 3, 2006, and Beatrice moved into the Evergreens of Fargo
Beatrice and Justin were members of Nora Lutheran Church, Gardner, and Landstad Lutheran Church, Perley, MN, before becoming members of Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church, Moorhead. Beatrice loved children and she was a Sunday School, vacation Bible school and Release Time teacher. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid and the Homemakers Club. At Triumph she belonged to the Prime Timers with her husband.
Beatrice liked to garden and keep up her flowers and lawn at the farm. She enjoyed entertaining and was a gracious hostess with a cup of coffee always ready.
Beatrice is now with her Lord and Savior and her beloved husband, who she greatly missed.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Astrup-Scott (Robert Ackland), Albert Lea, MN; a son, Paul (Janet) Astrup, Moorhead; three grandchildren, Philip (Jenni) Scott, Peter (Ruth Ann) Scott, and Anna Astrup; two-great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Camille
Visitation: Sunday from 5 - 7 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM,
