Beatrice "Bea" Leiseth

Beatrice "Bea" Margaret Johnson was born September 28, 1921, on the family farm near Comstock, MN, to Nels and Ida (Berglund) Johnson. Bea was raised on the family farm and attended schools in that area.

Bea married Ole Leiseth on September 15, 1940, in Rustad, MN, and they raised four children while farming near Rustad, Hawley, and Wolverton, MN. They also farmed near Walcott, Kindred, and Fullerton, ND.

Bea and Ole traveled extensively, including special trips to Australia, New Zealand and Scandinavia. They spent many warm winters in Mesa, AZ. Ole died March 5, 2011, and Bea continued to make her home in Moorhead, MN.

Bea worked side by side as a partner with Ole on the Leiseth farm. She did what needed to be done, whether it was cooking and baking for the crew, or driving a grain truck when necessary. She was known for her spotless home and thoroughly enjoyed cleaning.

Bea was a long-time member of Hoff Lutheran Church of Rustad. She also belonged to Clay County Homemakers and the Sunshine Club. Bea volunteered many hours at Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, and St. Luke's Hospital, Fargo.

Bea passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at Sanford Health, Fargo, at ninety years of age, in the presence of her children and their families.

She is survived by her sons, Wallace (Dennis), Mesa, AZ, and Melvin (Sharon), Houston, TX; daughters, Etta (Robert) Horner, Detroit Lakes, MN, and Carolee Leiseth, Moorhead; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Ole, Bea was preceded in death by her parents, Nels and Ida; one brother, Norman Johnson; and three sisters, Violet Richards, Lorraine Boock, and Amy Donley.

Visitation for Bea will be Thursday, February 16, 2012, from 4 - 6:30 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Her funeral will be Friday, February 17, 2012, at 2 PM, in Hoff Lutheran Church, Rustad.

Burial will be in Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
