Benjamin P. Samuels, 86, Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, July 16, 2005, in the Veterans Home, St. Cloud, MN.
Benjamin Place Samuels was born June 3, 1919, to Norma and Frank Samuels in Oswego, NY, where he also received his education. Ben enlisted in the US Air Force in 1942, and was stationed in Salinas, CA.
On September 29, 1943, he married Theresa Ledeboer in Moorhead. Ben was discharged from the Air Force in 1946, and he joined the Air National Guard in 1947 in Fargo, ND. In 1952, he was called to active duty and he transferred to Moody Air Base, Georgia. While there, Ben re-enlisted in the Air Force.
Ben retired from the Air Force in 1968, and he worked for the Fargo Post Office from 1972 until 1982. After retirement, Ben and Theresa continued to make their home in Moorhead.
Ben enjoyed fishing and watching his grandson play hockey and baseball. He was a member of the Moorhead VFW and of the First Presbyterian Church, Moorhead.
Ben is survived by his wife, Theresa; two sons, Gary, Lake Zurick, IL, and Mark (Peggy), Moorhead; a grandson, Mike, Moorhead; two sisters, Rosalyn King and Lois Syrell, both of Oswego. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sist
