Bernard Anderson, 77, St. Cloud, FL, formerly of Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, May 27, 2021, in St. Cloud.
Our beloved brother Bernard Hans Anderson, age 77, St. Cloud, FL, formerly of Moorhead, MN, died May 27, 2021, after being hospitalized for health issues.
Bernard was born February 23, 1944, in Fargo, ND, to Harold and Lucilla (Kragnes) Anderson. He grew up on a farm in rural Kragnes, and in the Fargo-Moorhead area, attending Moorhead schools. His interest in flying model airplanes as a teenager led him to study aeronautical engineering at NDSU, Fargo.
He continued his education in California, enlisting in the Air Force, piloting C-130s, and earning the rank of Captain. After the Air Force, he pursued his love of flying by working at various airports in North Dakota, Minnesota, North Carolina, and Florida, as a pilot and an A & P mechanic, making good friends along the way.
His love of science and learning was interwoven with work and play, the sky and the water were Bernie's playgrounds. An experienced and skilled pilot, scuba diver, and water skier, he traveled the world and had many stories to share. Partnered with those adventures was his love of photography, especially underwater photography.
Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Lucilla; sister, Ardis; brother, Harold; brother, David; and niece, Luanne.
He is survived by siblings, Sharon (Larry) Luckason, Osage, MN, Laurence (Karma) Anderson, Moorhead, Ordean (Lisa) Anderson, Gallatin Gateway, MT, Keith Anderson, Moorhead, and Laurie Anderson, Osage; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Bernie shared his sense of fun and adventurous spirit with family and friends, giving them opportunities for experiences that will forever touch their lives and warm their hearts. He will be dearly missed.
A Celebration Service for Bernie will be Sunday, June 27, 2021, at 1 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
The graveside service will be Sunday, June 27, 2021, at 3:30 PM, in Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, Glyndon, MN.
