Bernedine "Bonnie" Wambach

March 18, 1931 — June 2, 2020

Bernedine "Bonnie" Wambach, 89, of rural Georgetown MN, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2020, in her home under Hospice care and her family. She was born March 18, 1931, the daughter of Dirk and Gudrun (Hovland) Lakeman, in Borup, MN.

She attended and graduated from Borup High School. She married Robert "Bob" Wambach on Oct. 29, 1949, in Georgetown. They made their home on a farm in Georgetown. She was a homemaker and loved gardening, canning, and cooking. She loved raising their ten children and spending time with their 27 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great- grandchildren.

Bonnie is survived by her husband of seventy years, Robert "Bob" Wambach; children, Teresa (Bill) Rose, Perham, MN, David Wambach (Linda Young), Foley, MN, Larry (Pam) Wambach, Kalispell, MT, Mike (Mary) Wambach, Webster, SD, Patty (Kevin) Nold, Henning, MN, Gary (Carol) Wambach, Georgetown, Nancy Wambach (Marc St. Louis), Moorhead, MN, Peggy (Aaron) Larson, Wadena, MN, and Mark (Ann) Wambach, Ottertail, MN; 27 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Harriet Tufton, Helen Madson, and Mary Ann Strand.

She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Robert "Bob" Wambach Jr., and his wife Diane Wambach; her grandson, Greg Wambach (son of Bob and Diane); one great-grandchild, Andrew Burke; her parents, Dirk and Gudrun Lakeman; one sister, Goldie Germolus; one brother, Clarence "Ole" Lakeman; and treasured in-laws, Roland and Theresa Wambach.

Due to the Covid crisis, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be held June 6, 2020, in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Moorhead. Burial will be at Wild Rose Cemetery, Georgetown.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wild Rose Cemetery fund or Ethos Hospice of Fargo, ND.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Eventide as well as Ethos Hospice for their care of Bonnie and her family.

St. Francis de Sales Church will have a recording of the funeral mass. We expect it should be by Sunday, June 7. www.stfrancismhd.org
