Berniece "Bea" E. Hanson, 86, Moorhead, MN, died Friday, March 2, 2012, in the Sanford Health Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND.
Bea Emily Hanson was born July 8, 1925, on a farm near Hankinson, ND. She attended rural school and graduated from Hankinson High School.
As a young woman, Bea worked at Lynn's Café in Wahpeton, ND, then moved to Aberdeen, WA, where she worked and lived with her sister.
Bea eventually returned to Hankinson and married Lloyd Hanson on November 27, 1947, in Breckenridge, MN. They made their home in Valley City, ND, where they owned and operated J & L SuperValu. In 1975, they moved to Moorhead.
Lloyd died on May 20, 2004, and Bea continued to make her home in Moorhead. She liked flower gardening and collecting dolls and antiques. She was active in her church in earlier years and enjoyed staying healthy through exercise and good nutrition. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Rennae (Ed) Gruchalla, Fargo; a son, Paul (Karen) Hanson, Whitefish Bay, WI; 4 grandchildren, Matthew (Stephanie) Gruchalla, Michael (Kimberly) Gruchalla, Kathryn Gruchalla, and Eleanor Hanson; 3 great-grandchildren, Ben,
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers; and 2 sisters.
Visitation: Wednesday from 10 - 11 AM, at The Lutheran Church of Christ the King, Moorhead.
Funeral: Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 11 AM, The Lutheran Church of Christ the King.
Burial: Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Hankinson.
