Berniece Mary Glatt was born September 7, 1928, to Ludwig and Mary (Wagner) Glatt, in Hague, ND. Berniece was raised in that area where she attended school.
Berniece was united in marriage to Nicholas Weigel on October 6, 1947, in Hague, and they made their home in Zeeland, ND. They lived in a number of communities in Minnesota and North Dakota, including Bismarck, ND. They moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1959.
Berniece worked for American Crystal Sugar, Moorhead, did custodial work as well as daycare. Nick preceded her in death on January 16, 1993, and she continued to make her home in Moorhead.
Berniece lived for a time at Sheyenne Crossing, West Fargo, ND, until entering Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo, in May of 2009. She died Thursday, January 7, 2010, at Rosewood on Broadway, at eighty-one years of age.
Berniece is survived by two sons, Brian Weigel, Fargo, and Bruce (Teri) Weigel, Moorhead; four daughters, Sharon (John) Burns and Sarah (Les) Thorstenson, both Wadena, MN, and Doris (Dean) Kasowski, and Beverly (Richard) Tritchler, both West Fargo; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-two (and one on the way) great-grandchildren; and one (on the way) great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband, Berniece was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and three sisters.
Visitation for Berniece will be Tuesday, January 12, 2010, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 6 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
The Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at 2 PM, in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
