Bertha M. Hatlen, age 90, of Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead.
Bertha Mathilda Magnuson, the daughter of John and Sellstine (Olson) Magnuson, was born November 19, 1915 in Moorhead. She was a life-long Moorhead resident and a life-long member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Moorhead, where she was baptized, confirmed and married. Bertha received her education in Moorhead, and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1934.
On June 28, 1941, Bertha married Oscar C. Hatlen in Moorhead. They made their home in Moorhead. Bertha worked as a teller at American State Bank and First National Bank, both Moorhead, and at the JC Penney Store in Fargo, ND.
After they retired, Bertha and Oscar continued to live in their home in north Moorhead. Oscar died on December 16, 2000.
After his death, Bertha became a resident of Eventide Lutheran Home. The family wishes to thank the staff of Eventide for their kind and loving care over the past six years.
In addition to her husband, Bertha was preceded in death by two sons, an infant son, Gerald, and Don, who died in 1994, and two brothers, Albert and Arthur Magnuson.
Bertha is survived by her daughter, Mary (Bruce) Olson of Moorhead; four grandchildren, Angela Hatlen, Evergreen, CO, Christopher (Tracy) Olson, East Grand Forks, MN, 1st Lt. Brian (Beth) Hatlen, who is serving in the US Army in Iraq, and Corey Olson, Far
Memorials preferred to Eventide Lutheran ministry or Bethesda Lutheran Church.
