Bessie H. Hanson, 85, Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, November 11, 2007, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.
Bessie Helen Lorence was born January 5, 1922, in Larson, ND, to Frances and Agnes (Pedersen) Lorence. She was raised in Larson until the age of 12 when the family moved to Robin, MN. Bessie graduated from Drayton (ND) High School and Mayville (ND) College.
On October 12, 1941, Bessie married Wendell Hanson in Teien, MN, and they farmed near Kennedy, MN. They then moved to Crookston, MN, and in the 1950s moved to Moorhead. In 1956, Bessie began working for deLendrecies, Fargo, ND, where she worked for 38 years. Bessie was a model employee who never missed a single day of work. After her retirement, Bessie worked at South Junior High, Moorhead, for one year.
In 1995, Wendell died and Bessie continued to make her home in Moorhead. Bessie was an avid gardener, an excellent cook and meticulous housekeeper. She was involved in politics and knew the issues. Crossword puzzles were finished daily. Bessie enjoyed entertaining and hosted many parties for neighbors, family, and friends.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan Hanson, Moorhead; three sons, Chuck Hanson, Moorhead, Robert (Judy) Hanson, Longview, TX, and Lorence Hanson, Minneapolis, MN; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Frances; and a great-grandchild, Branden.

Memorial Service: Friday, November 16, 2007, at 2 PM, in the Bottolfson Chapel, Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.
