Betty J. Buland

Betty J. Buland, 87, Barnesville, MN, formerly of Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, February 2, 2022, in Valley Care and Rehab, in Barnesville.

Betty Jean Kelting was born January 16, 1935, in Pelican Rapids, MN, to August and Gladys (Erickson) Kelting. She spent some of her youth in Barnesville until her family moved to Moorhead. Betty graduated from Moorhead State Teachers Campus High School in 1953. During her high school years, Betty worked at the Princess Theatre in Fargo. On June 26, 1954, Betty was united in marriage to Donald Buland in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead. Betty and Don resided in Moorhead raising their children, Renae, Jill and Daryl. Over the course of her working career, Betty was employed at Pioneer Mutual Insurance for a few years, as a waitress at Sunset Lanes and Steakhouse, and was the cook at Trinity Preschool/Daycare and HeadStart. Church was a big part of Betty's life. She was an active member with Trinity Lutheran Church for many years, serving in several different capacities, and always willing to volunteer her time wherever needed.

Betty loved to go shopping. She also enjoyed visiting with everyone on the telephone and coffee hour with her friends. During the summer months, she enjoyed family time at the lake.
Betty will be remembered and missed by her three children, Renae Noeldner, Jill Kaczor and Daryl (Karen) Buland; her grandchildren, Brandon, Khrystyne, Miranda, Jennifer (Matt), Sara and Jamie; along with six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Shirley Donovan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; one brother, Larry Kelting; one granddaughter, Bridget Noeldner; and son-in-law, Bradley Noeldner.

Visitation for Betty will be Sunday, February 6, 2022, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel from 4pm-6pm with a Prayer Service at 6pm. Betty's funeral service will be Monday, February 7, 2022 at 11am in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead. Burial will take place in Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
