Betty M. Baukol

Betty Mary Hamernik was born May 30, 1928, on the family farm in Walworth Township, Becker County, MN, to Frank and Aloise (Dvorak) Hamernik. She graduated from Ulen (MN) High School in 1947.

Betty was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Baukol on September 18, 1949, in Walworth Baptist Church, rural Ulen, MN, and they settled on the farm. In 1955, they moved to Moorhead, MN, before establishing their home in Dilworth, MN, in 1957.

Betty worked in housekeeping at St. Ansgar Hospital, Moorhead, for fifteen years. However, her greatest calling was caring for her family. She made sure they were well taken care of and all of their needs were met. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family.

She also enjoyed a simple drive in the country with Bob, in the later years. Bob died December 5, 2015, and Betty continued to make her home in Moorhead.

Betty died Monday, February 19, 2018, in Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead, at eighty-nine years of age.

Betty was an avid quilter, being involved with the Quilters group at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Moorhead. Many of her family have her quilts to remember her by.

Betty is survived by her children, Joan (Dennis) Ness, Moorhead, John (Terry), Moorhead, Jim (Myrt), Hillsboro, ND, Joyce (Randy) Sayler, Moorhead, and Jeff (Karen), Moorhead; grandchildren, Joshua (Erica) Hall, Nathan (Jen) Baukol, Jeremy (Jenni) Baukol, Nikki (Jarrod) Williams, Desi (Cody) Muscha, Tom (Crystal) Baukol, Ben (Emily) Baukol, Joe, Christina, and Allison Sayler (Justis Curtis), Mandy (Matt) Mangel, Mike (Kristi) Baukol and Matt Baukol; great-grandchildren, Bobbieanne, Emily, Abigail, Emma, Gunnar, Molly, Rylee, Reese, Ryan, Kylie, Samantha, Jaxon, Lexus, Emma, and Alivia; sisters, Georgie Fuchs, Fertile, MN, Irene Klemetson, Ulen, and Helen (Marvin) Slette, Mahnomen, MN; brother, Ed (Arlene) Hamernik, Fridley, MN; and sisters-in-law, Marlys Hamernik, Minneapolis, MN, Jean Hamernik, Ulen, Colleen Hamernik, Ulen, and Joyce Baukol, Starbuck, MN.

In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank, Jerry, and Stanley; and a sister, Anna.

Visitation will begin at 10 AM, followed by a funeral at 11 AM, Friday, February 23, 2018, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead.

Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
