Blanche A. Leonard, age 97, Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.
Blanche Alice Mulvanny was born on July 16, 1915, to Margaret (Burfiend) and William Mulvanny in Wheaton, MN. She graduated from Wheaton High School and Moorhead State Teachers College, with a degree in education. She taught country school in Hoffman, MN, until 1941.
Blanche married Rudy Leonard from New York Mills, MN, on June 21, 1941, and they made their home in Moorhead. They were active members of Trinity Lutheran Church where Blanche taught Sunday school and participated in various volunteer groups through the church. She worked at Herbst Department Store, was a substitute teacher in Fargo, and was the secretary/bookkeeper for their family-owned business, Rudy Leonard Construction Company. They enjoyed their retirement years at their lake home on Fish Lake.
Blanche was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, three brothers, one niece and her husband of 69 years, Rudy.
She is survived by her three children, Karen (Tom) Flaig, Bruce (Pat) Leonard, and Bob (Darcy) Leonard; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials preferred to the Pastoral Endowment Fund, C/O Eventide Lutheran Home. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Eventide for their many years of compassionate caring for Blanche and Rudy.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service.
Funeral service: Thursday, April 11, 2013, at 2 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel.
Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
