Bruce L. Dahl

Bruce L. Dahl, 59, of Felton, MN, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, in Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo, ND.

Bruce L. Dahl was born February 23, 1959, the son of Raymond and Beverly (Stene) Dahl, in Ada, MN. He was raised on a farm near Felton and graduated from Glyndon-Felton High School. After high school, he attended the University of Minnesota-Crookston before transferring to North Dakota State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics.

Bruce returned to the family farm where he farmed for several years. He then returned to graduate school at North Dakota State University College of Agriculture and Applied Science where he received his Master of Science degree in Agricultural Economics.

Bruce worked as a research scientist for NDSU in the Department of Agribusiness and Applied Economics for more than 25 years. He worked closely with Dr. William Wilson and other collaborators. In the most recent 15 years Bruce developed expertise in the field of "risk and strategy." In that capacity, he developed and used methodologies to measure risk and analyze strategies for mitigating risks. He worked with a group of faculty and students, was at the center core of this group, and was an invaluable resource to the entire group. Most of his work with his colleagues focused on either logistics in commodity marketing or evaluating commercial strategies for new technologies. In this capacity, he worked on many notable and significant projects in agriculture marketing and technology development. He published a large number of articles and mentored many students who now have top positions in agriculture around the world.

He enjoyed farming, science, the study of space and astronomy, football, golfing, basketball and baseball. He was a fan of NDSU Bison athletics, the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings. Bruce loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He had a personal relationship with his Savior and Lord, who led him home.

Bruce is survived by his mother, Beverly Dahl, Fargo; brothers, Gregory (Sheila), Eagan, MN, and Larry (Shelley), Cedar Rapids, IA; sister, Jenine (Mike) Andersen, Fargo; eleven nieces and nephews; six great-nephews and one great-niece, five aunts, four uncles, and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond.

A Gathering of Friends for Bruce will be Monday, July 9, 2018, from 5 PM until 7 PM, with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN.

His Memorial Service will be Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at 2:00 PM, in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Felton.

Burial will be at the Felton Cemetery, Felton.
