Bruce Yarber, age 72, of Fargo, ND died on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Memorial Services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Korsmo Funeral Service in Moorhead, MN with Rev. Taylor Johnson officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Moorhead American Legion and the Air Force Honor Guard.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the memorial service.

Bruce Wayne Yarber was born on June 8, 1952, to Elmer and Cora (Bowden) Yarber in Moorhead, MN. Yes, Bruce Wayne was named after Batman because of his mother’s love of Batman, and it was rumored that the Batman television series was playing while she was in labor. He was the second of nine children. He grew up in Moorhead and Dayton, Ohio.

At the age of 18, he signed up to serve his country in the US Air Force. He was assigned office duty in the Dakota’s, mostly in Grand Forks, for four years. He jokingly told people he “flew a desk.” Following his service, he was married and had two daughters, Ginger and Cora, while living in Ohio.

He returned to Fargo where he would meet Karen after they were set up on a blind date by his sister. They would be married on April 17, 1981. They made their home in Fargo and the family added three more children to the mix including Chad, Chris, and Melissa. He retired from GPK Products in Fargo.

Bruce was musical and loved to play the guitar. His favorite genre of music would be Old Country, and he loved Merle Haggard. During Bruce’s lifetime, he played in a band and traveled to sing and play around the Fargo and Grand Fork’s areas. He will be remembered as a simple man with simple tastes. Watching television was a favorite pastime including watching hours of NCIS, ALF, and the Andy Griffith Show, to name a few of the favorites. He was also a smart mechanic and his favorite advice to share was “you gotta put it back together the same way you took it apart.”

He is survived by his wife Karen Yarber of Fargo, 5 children: Cora (Kevin) Hageman of Verona, WI, Ginger Yarber of Minneapolis, MN, Chad (Abby) Castle of Fargo, ND, Chris (Tailer) Yarber of West Fargo, ND, and Melissa (Allan) Wald of Fargo; 17 ½ grandchildren; 1 great grandson; 8 siblings: Paul Yarber of Moorhead, Penny McLarin of Fargo, Jimmy (Vicky) Yarber of Georgia, Vickie Harris of Fargo, Lela (Keith) Thompson of Minneapolis, MN, Evie (Darren) Anderson of Fargo, Andrew (Heather) Yarber of Moorhead, and David Yarber of Minneapolis; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Cora; and sister-in-law, Cindy Yarber.
