Burdell M. Tollerude

Burdell M. Grunewald was born August 10, 1916, to William and Magda (Hoel) Grunewald, near Rothsay, MN. Burdell was baptized and confirmed at Friberg Lutheran Church of rural Rothsay. She attended school in district 61 for her education.
Burdell was united in marriage to Julian Tollerude on June 16, 1946, at Rothsay, and they lived and farmed near Phelps Mill, MN. They retired from farming in 1981, and moved to Fergus Falls, MN, at that time. They eventually moved to Moorhead, MN, to be closer to family.
They entered Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, in 2004. Julian preceded Burdell in death on June 6, 2006. Burdell died Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Eventide, at ninety-one years of age.
Burdell had a love for gardening and baking. She continued to bake for as long as she was able.
Burdell is survived by her two daughters, Diane (Dennis) Leatherbury of Moorhead, and Linda (Paul) Anderson of Hillsboro, ND; three grandsons, Philip (Jessica) Leitch, Glyndon, MN, Ty (Kim) Bowen, West Fargo, ND, and Brett (Leah) Bowen, Moorhead; three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Carter and Julian Bowen; and a brother, Herbert (Arlyne) Grunewald, Pelican Rapids, MN.
In addition to her husband, Burdell was preceded in death by four brothers, Ernest, Arthur, Carl, and Clarence.
Memorial Service: Thursday, March 13, 2008, at 2 PM, in Bottolfson Chapel, Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.
