Clarence Wayne Kreps was born May 24, 1923, in Moorhead, MN, to Clarence Sr. and Anna (Hanson) Kreps. Wayne was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church where he was a lifetime member, serving on the Church Council and various other committees, including Helping Hands and Camp Emmaus clean-up.

Wayne was raised in Moorhead where he graduated from high school on May 29, 1941. He attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, for Meteorology after enlisting in the Service. He continued his education throughout his lifetime, including attending Moorhead State College for Business and Accounting classes.

Wayne served in the US Army Air Force from January 29, 1943, until his discharge as a Staff Sergeant on February 14, 1946. While in the service, Wayne was assigned to the 2135th Army Air Forces Base Unit, Tyndall Field, Florida. He volunteered to be a meteorologist, but was transferred to be a mechanical flight engineer on the B-25. He was also trained for B-17's while waiting for possible deployment. He served as a top turret gunner, on-board mechanic, and astral navigator. He received the American Theater Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Wayne was united in marriage to Margene Sunderland on October 10, 1947, in Moorhead. They lived in Oregon for one year and returned to Moorhead where Wayne worked as branch manager of the Moorhead Sherwin-Williams Company. After 24 years with Sherwin-Williams, he opened Wayne's Tax Service. Wayne was self-employed until his retirement in 2002.

Wayne was a member of the Sons of Norway, Fargo, and the American Legion. He also served on the board of Riverside Cemetery Association, Moorhead, for many years. His hobbies included gardening, woodworking and fishing. He loved to take his family camping and enjoyed the outdoors.

Wayne died Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Sanford Health, Fargo, at 88 years old.

Wayne is survived by his wife of more than 64 years, Margene, Moorhead; son, Bradley (Lyn) Kreps, St. Stephen, MN; daughters, Sandra (Curt) Aamold, Alexandria, MN, Sheryl (David) Olsonawski, Park Rapids, MN, and Joan (friend, Peter Smith) Hatlestad, West Fargo, ND; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, Dana (Randy) Willard, and their children, MacKenzie and Zachary; Laura (Larry) Willard; Steven (Jennifer) Kreps, and their children, Brenna and Abigail; Jeremy (Katie) Aamold, and their children, Erik and Elias; Michael (Leyla) Aamold; Bethany (Tim Bailly) Aamold, and their daughter, Brynn; Jana (Ryan) Jordan, and their children, Anthony, Matthew, and Thomas; Sarah (Mark) Nissen, and their children, Cade and Anna; Lisa (Joel) Trosdahl, and their son, Gavin; Lacey Hatlestad and Shelby Hatlestad; brother, John Kreps Sr., Fargo, ND; a sister, Helen Motschenbacher, California; and numerous nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia.

Visitation will be Monday, May 14, 2012, from 6 - 8 PM, with a prayer service at 8 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

The funeral will be Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at 11 AM, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
